Girls Basketball Results

The Moran girls basketball team came from behind to win their final game of the season against cross town rival Dag. The girls trailed by as much as 11 and were down by 5 to start the fourth when they finally took the lead with 1:12 left and held onto it until the final buzzer…final score…Lady Mustangs 36 and Lady Panthers 35. It was an absolute whole team effort and a great win. The girls end their season with a winning record of 7 wins and 6 losses. We wish our 8th graders Lyndsey Bunnell, Maya Wresien, Olivia Platt and Natalie Swierczynski all the best as the take their game to the next level.

The JV game came down to the final buzzer as well with Dag hitting the tie breaking basket with 0 seconds left on the clock. Final score … Dag 12 and Moran 10. The JV team finishes their season with a winning record of 7 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie.

Boys Basketball Results

Yesterday, the boys basketball team finished up their season by winning their 3rd game in a row against cross-town rival Dag by a score of 69-54. Despite the hot shooting of Dag in the first quarter, the boys were able to tighten up on the defensive end and shut down the Dag shooters in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Once again, all the boys showed excellent effort and intensity in the win. The boys finished the season with a record of 6 wins and 6 losses. They should all be very proud of their achievements and the improvements they all made.

JV.
In the JV game, the boys were defeated by Dag by a score of 31-13. The overwhelming height of the Dag boys were just too much for the boys to overcome. The boys moved the ball well and got open shots throughout the game, and also showed tremendous growth over the course of the season. The boys finished with a record of 2 wins and 10 losses.

Boys Basketball Results

The boys basketball team seems to have hit their stride and won their second game in 2 days yesterday by a score of 50-33 against DePaolo of Southington. The boys had a strong first quarter scoring 20 points and led by 13 at the half. The boys aggressiveness on the offensive end, and stifling defensive was key to the victory. All of the boys played well and had strong contributions. As a team, the boys managed to snag 21 steals, and only allowed 12 points in the second half. They also had a season low 11 turnovers.

The boys will be looking to wrap up their season with a win against cross-town rival Dag on Thursday at Dag.

JV.
The boys JV team tied DePaolo yesterday 17-17. The hot shooting of Kade Marcantonio, who led the boys with 10 points, and solid defense made for an exciting game. Garron Crespo chipped in 5 points and Andy You had 2.

Boys Basketball Results

After a week of cancelled games, the boys basketball team got back on track yesterday with a 67-49 win over Eddison of Meriden. It was a total team effort on both sides of the court. The boys aggressive defense led to a number of fastbreaks and easy baskets, while on the offensive end, they were able to continuously find the open player for quality shots.
Every 8th grader reached the scoring column and as a team, they grabbed an impressive 44 rebounds. Cam Pragano recorded his first double-double of the season with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Owen St.Amant and Shaine Salvador did a fantastic job controlling the paint and combined for 11 points and 18 rebounds. Vinnie Carbone, Drew Dellipaoli, Anthony MarkAnthony, Chase St.Amant and Griffin Neilander all had terrific all-around games.
The boys next game will be today at home against DePaolo of Southington.

JV
The boys JV team won their second game of the year by a score of 14-5 against Eddison. The boys showed great ball movement to find open teammates and played extremely tough on the defensive end to limit Eddison’s shots. Andy You, Garron Crespo, Owen Hotaling, Marcus Elder, and Kade Marcantonio all scored for the Mustangs. Ryan Carmen and Marcus Elder led the team on the defensive end with 3 steals each.

Girls Basketball Results

Girls Varsity Game Results:
Yesterday the Lady Mustangs won against Edison Middle School of Meriden bringing their regular season record even to 6 wins and 6 losses. The win was a team effort both offensively and defensively. Standouts were Olivia Platt having a great offensive game and leading Moran in scoring with 9pts; Ella Dorsey and Lyndsey Bunnell combined for 10 steals while Isabella Perno and Katelyn Bailey combined for 9 rebounds.

The final game for the Lady Mustangs is this Thursday, home, against cross-town Rival Dag Hammarskjold. The Lady Mustangs look to avenge their loss from earlier in the season. Come out and support your Lady Mustangs by showing up to the game wearing our school colors, BLUE and YELLOW.

Girls JV Results:
The girls JV team won against Edison Middle School by the score of 12-6. Scoring for Moran was Katelyn Bailey with 4pts, Ella Dorsey , Giada Izzo, Camryn Jambor, and Olivia D’Errico each with 2pts. The girls JV record is now 7 wins with 4 losses and 1 tie.
