Moran Girl’s Track & Field Team Win the State Championship;
Moran Boy’s Track & Field Team Take 2nd Place

On Saturday, the 10th Annual Connecticut Middle School Track & Field State Championships took place at Manchester High School. Moran Middle School along with 58 other middle schools and club teams which included 1200 athletes competed on that day to see who would be crowned State Champions in individual events and as a team.

Girl’s Results:​
The Moran Girl’s Track & Field team finished in 1st Place and are your CT Middle School Track & Field State Champions! This is the girl’s second State Championship in the last 3 years and their third one in the last ten years. (2009, 2015, & 2017)

Individual State Champion:
Girl’s 200 meters – Avery Winters – 27.54 seconds
State Champion Relay Team:
4×100 meter Relay Team – 54.49 seconds

Boy’s Results:
Moran Boy’s Track & Field team finished in 2nd place overall. This was the second straight year that the Moran boys team finished in 2nd place and the 5th time in the last ten years. (2008, 2009, 2012, 2016, & 2017)

Individual State Champion:
Boy’s 200 meters – Ryan Villano – 25.00 seconds

We won against Lincoln 29-3

We beat Lincoln 29 to 3 in 5 innings.

Alex Tenero had 3 hits and 2 walks and also pitched amazing. She had 11 strike outs.

Lauren Lindberg was 4-4 with 3 doubles and a single.

Ryen Wolcheski was 5-5 with a home-run and 4 singles.

Another game in the books for the Moran Mustangs who won 5 to 0 over Lincoln of Meriden. Nathaniel Emerton pitched a 1 hitter over 7 innings. TIED 0 to 0 in the 5th, Zach Blest blasted a monster double, scoring two. Joe Amarone added two key hits for the Mustangs at the start of The 5th and 6th innings. The following inning with the bases loaded, Jay Villano roped a double down the line clearing the bases. The Mustangs improve to 6 and 3 and look to finish the season strong vs Dag next Wednesday.

The Moran Mustangs defeated Dodd of Cheshire 9 to 1 behind Nick Iannone’s stellar pitching performance. Iannone struck out 5, going the full 7 innings to earn the win. Offensively, Moran put 4 on the board in the 2nd inning, behind Jay Villano and Andrew Carey. In the 4th inning, Billy Gorry delivered a solo homerun to put Moran up 5 to 1 and never looked back. Great win by the Mustangs as they head to Meriden tomorrow to take on Lincoln.

The Moran Mustangs fell to Kennedy 7 to 3. DOWN 3 to 0 Moran scores 3 runs in the 4th to tie the game. Nathaniel Emerton pitched an outstanding 7 inning game but unfortunately errors on defense cost them the win. MORAN looks to rebound against Cheshire and Meriden next week.

The boys and girls track teams both came out with wins against Dag.

Moran wins 15-4 over Washington middle school

Alexandra Tenero was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and 1 single.

Jessica Davies was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles with 4 runs batted in.

Mia Ferry pitched a complete game giving up 5 hits and had 6 strikeouts.

Lady Mustangs are now 3-2 on the year

The Moran Mustangs won 19 to 1 over Washington Middle. Up 2 to 1 Moran went on an offensive attack putting up big hits and defensively shut down Washington as Zach Blest pitched flawless baseball. Luis DeJesus came in to start the fifth and record 6 strikeouts, adding 5 RBIs to his impressive day. UP next: Kennedy this Thursday.

Girls’ Track Team Results:
Yesterday the girls’ Track & Field team suffered their first loss of the season to McGee MS of Berlin in a very close meet, by the score of 37-45.
