Girls Softball Results

The Moran Lady Mustang Softball Team came out on Friday to avenge an earlier loss to a feisty Strong Middle School team in Durham. The Ladies used singles by Nicole Dorsey, Te’a Martin, Mia Ferry, Sammi Fers and Caitlyn Hunt to open up a 3 run lead before Strong had a chance to bat.

It was the defense that shined. Aleiya Noone grabbed a single to deep center hit Mia Ferry on the cutoff and Sammi Fers applied the tag at home. Fers threw out one runner trying to steal and picked off another runner at third along with Nicole Dorsey got a speedy runner in a pickle and again applied a tag. A line drive to Te’a Martin playing the short stop position, doubled off a runner at first thanks to a great throw and a long stretch by Caitlyn Hunt..

Colleen Kelley came in for defensive purposes and had a put out in left, while Jess Davies singled along with Summer van Dyke and each had an RBI. Again the Lady Mustangs hammered out 15 singles and Ferry again had 6 K’s and scattered 7 hits.

The record is now 5 and 4 with 2 games left.

Girls Softball Results

Its too bad the softball season is coming to an end…your Lady Mustangs are coming together to be one of the best “Moran Teams” in the last 20 years.

On Wednesday:

* we won our 3rd straight game scoring 39 runs
* we evened our record at 4 and 4
* we avenged an earlier loss vs Cheshire 11-10
* we had 18 exciting hits and only struck out 4 times

Moran not only rode the arm of 7th grader Mia Ferry who scattered only 6 hits but literally were hitting on all cylinders. Bella Blasi, Nicole Dorsey, Mia Ferry, Te’a Martin, Sammi Fers, all had at least one single and one double.
Alexandra Tenero,Caitlyn Hunt, Summer van Dyke and Aleiya Noone all had at least one hit and when it counted, down 2 going into the bottom of the sixth pounded out 2 more runs. Blasi got an RBI double to drive in Noone from second for the tie and Te’a Martin singled in Blasi for the go ahead run.

Pitcher Mia Ferry came out her 7th inning and her first complete game and shut down Dodd on 8 pitches making the 3rd ground out to Hunt at first herself. Additionally, 6th grader and speedster Ryen Wolcheski caught a complete game behind the plate.

The season should be extended at least another month the way the girls are playing….everyone has accepted their roles and confidence has never been higher….

Congratulation Ladies.
