Cross Country Results

Last Friday, the Girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country teams competed against cross-town rival Dag Hammarskjold to determine who would win the town title!

Girls’ Cross-Country Results
The Lady Mustangs cross-country team stampeded over Dag Hammarskjold winning by the score of 19-36 to bring their final season record to 4 wins and 2 losses. Leading the pack of Lady Mustangs and taking first place overall was co-captain Arianna Amodio followed by a pair of 6th graders, Angelika Kotula in 2nd and Katie Lombino in 3rd. Co-captain Karly Martino was in 6th, Avery Winters 7th, Alison Kaiser 11th, and Maya Wresien 12th. Other Lady Mustangs that had outstanding runs during the race were Finnian Dubuc, Jayna MacKenzie, Hitika Patel, Marissa Capozzo Paige Duffey, Samantha Brown, and Aubrey Monroe.

Boys’ Cross-Country Results
The Moran Mustangs Cross-Country team finished their regular season undefeated as they trampled Dag winning by the score of 15-49 bringing their record to 6 wins and no losses. Leading the herd of Mustangs and taking first place overall was Eamon Burke followed closely by Zack Zubeckis in 2nd, Evan Caines 3rd, John Cotter-Swetz 4th, Aaron Kaiser 5th, Stefan Pellerin 6th, and Todd Grammatico 8th. Other Mustangs that had outstanding runs during the race were Ben Gyulay, Travis Karosi, Ryan Carmen, Tristan Bonilla, Adythia Naturaj, and Daniel Phoenix.

The boys’ cross-country team finished the season as UNDEFEATED LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!

Both Cross-Country teams will be competing in the 25th annual State Championship meet this Saturday. Good Luck to both teams and GO MUSTANGS!!!

Cross-Country Results

Yesterday the girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country Teams competed in a tri-meet against Lincoln MS and Washington MS of Meriden on Moran’s course.

Girls’ Cross-Country Results
The Lady Mustangs came back strong from their loss in their last meet by winning the tri- meet shutting out Lincoln MS by the score of 15-50 and beating Washington by the score of 17-46. Leading the pack of Lady Mustangs was Arianna Amodio taking 1st overall followed closely by Angelika Kotula 2nd, Katie Lombino 3rd, Karly Martino took 5th. Alison Kaiser, another 6th grader, took 6th, then Avery Winters 7th and Maya Wresien 8th. Other runners that performed well in the meet were Jaime Koons, Jayna MacKenzie, Hitika Patel, and Samantha Brown.

The girls’ team record has now improved to 3 wins and 2 losses.

Boys Cross-Country Results
The Moran Mustangs trampled their opponent winning the tri-meet and shutting out both Lincoln MS and Washington MS each by the score of 15-50. Leading the herd of Mustangs was Zack Zubeckis in 1st, followed by Evan Caines 2nd, Eamon Burke 3rd, John Cotter 4th, Aaron Kaiser 5th, Stefan Pellerin 6th, and Aaron Mansfield 7th. Other runners for the team that performed well in the meet were Ben Gyulay, Travis Karosi, Noah Koons, Todd Grammatico, Ryan Carmen, Adythia Naturaj, Sal Passante, and Daniel Phoenix.

The boys’ team remains undefeated with a record of 5 wins with no losses.

Congratulations to both team on a great meet! The next meet for both cross-country teams is Monday, away, at the Cheshire Invitational. Good Luck to both teams and GO MUSTANGS!!!

Cross-Country Results

On Saturday both the Girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country Teams competed at the McGee Invitational. In this Invitational the athletes ran by grade level and gender. It was not team scored If an athlete finished in the top 5 places in their race they got a trophy, if they finished in places 6-20 they received a medal. Moran athletes placing in the top twenty in their respective races are:

Cross-Country Results

Yesterday the Moran Girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country teams competed against the Kennedy Eagles of Southington in a dual meet.

Girls Cross-Country Results:
The Moran Lady Mustangs suffered their second loss of the season against a strong Kennedy Lady Eagles team by the score of 34 -25. Coming in first for the Lady Mustangs, but 2nd overall was Arianna Amodio followed closely by two up and coming 6th graders Angelika Kotula 4th place and Katie Lombino 5th place then Karly Martino 12th, and 6th grader Alison Kaiser 13th. Other runners that did well in the race were Maya Wresien, Avery Winters, Jayna MacKenzie, Emma Reilly, Marissa Capozzo, and Finnian Dubuc.

The Girls’ team record is now 1 win and 2 losses.

Boys’ Cross-Country Results:
The Moran Mustangs stampeded over the Kennedy Eagles winning by the score of 23-32. Leading all runners in the race and taking 1st place was Eamon Burke followed by Zachary Zubeckis 3rd, Evan Caines 4th, John Cotter 7th, and Aaron Kaiser 8th. Other runners that did well in the race were Stefan Pellerin, Todd Grammatico, Benjamin Gyulay, Travis Karosi, Ryan Carmen, and Aaron Mansfield.

The Boys’ team remains undefeated with a record of 3 wins and no losses. Congratulations on a great victory!

The next meet for both the girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams is this Saturday in the McGee Invitational. It is not a team scored event, but run for individual performance. Good luck to all the runners. GO MUSTANGS!!!

Boy’s Baseball Results

As the Moran season comes to an end, the boys baseball team lost their final game 9 to 1 to Dag. Plagued by errors Moran couldn’t recover from a 7 run innings by Dag. Nick Iannone and Nathaniel Emerton took the mound for the Mustangs but couldn’t get the offense going. Luis DeJesus and Nate Cerasale both had solid doubles for the Mustangs. Moran ends the season at 6 and 4.

Track & Field Results

Moran Girl’s Track & Field Team Win the State Championship;
Moran Boy’s Track & Field Team Take 2nd Place

On Saturday, the 10th Annual Connecticut Middle School Track & Field State Championships took place at Manchester High School. Moran Middle School along with 58 other middle schools and club teams which included 1200 athletes competed on that day to see who would be crowned State Champions in individual events and as a team.

Girl’s Results:​
The Moran Girl’s Track & Field team finished in 1st Place and are your CT Middle School Track & Field State Champions! This is the girl’s second State Championship in the last 3 years and their third one in the last ten years. (2009, 2015, & 2017)

Individual State Champion:
Girl’s 200 meters – Avery Winters – 27.54 seconds
State Champion Relay Team:
4×100 meter Relay Team – 54.49 seconds
Maddie Grant, Amelia Mansfield, Ali Villano, and Clarisse Aminawung
Boy’s Results:
Moran Boy’s Track & Field team finished in 2nd place overall. This was the second straight year that the Moran boys team finished in 2nd place and the 5th time in the last ten years. (2008, 2009, 2012, 2016, & 2017)

Individual State Champion:
Boy’s 200 meters – Ryan Villano – 25.00 seconds

Coaches Steven Scursso and Donna Neary couldn’t be any prouder of how all of their athletes worked and performed all season.

Girl’s Softball Results

We won against Lincoln 29-3

We beat Lincoln 29 to 3 in 5 innings.

Alex Tenero had 3 hits and 2 walks and also pitched amazing. She had 11 strike outs.

Lauren Lindberg was 4-4 with 3 doubles and a single.

Ryen Wolcheski was 5-5 with a home-run and 4 singles.

Boy’s Baseball Results

Another game in the books for the Moran Mustangs who won 5 to 0 over Lincoln of Meriden. Nathaniel Emerton pitched a 1 hitter over 7 innings. TIED 0 to 0 in the 5th, Zach Blest blasted a monster double, scoring two. Joe Amarone added two key hits for the Mustangs at the start of The 5th and 6th innings. The following inning with the bases loaded, Jay Villano roped a double down the line clearing the bases. The Mustangs improve to 6 and 3 and look to finish the season strong vs Dag next Wednesday.

Boy’s Baseball Results

The Moran Mustangs defeated Dodd of Cheshire 9 to 1 behind Nick Iannone’s stellar pitching performance. Iannone struck out 5, going the full 7 innings to earn the win. Offensively, Moran put 4 on the board in the 2nd inning, behind Jay Villano and Andrew Carey. In the 4th inning, Billy Gorry delivered a solo homerun to put Moran up 5 to 1 and never looked back. Great win by the Mustangs as they head to Meriden tomorrow to take on Lincoln.
