Girls Basketball Results

Girls’ Varsity Game Results:
On Friday, the Lady Mustangs Basketball team competed in an intense basketball game against cross-town rival Dag Hammarskjold. The girls basketball team won by the score of 42-28.

Right from the start of the game, the Lady Mustangs were in total control as they opened up a 17-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Great defensive pressure was applied by co-captains Sydney Rossacci and Jayna MacKenzie along with Molly Smolenski which caused havoc on Dag’s guards while Darla Jagrosse, Madison Dipasquale, and Sydney Rossacci controlled the boards and combined for 38 rebounds of Moran’s 46 rebounds. Sydney Rossacci had 3 steals and Darla Jagrosse had 5 blocks.

The Lady Mustangs had a well rounded offense which was sparked by the team’s incredible defense. Molly Smolenski led all scorers with 13pts followed by Darla Jagrosse who recorded her 3rd double/double of the season with 11pts and 13 rebounds, Sydney Rossacci had 7pts, Madison DiPasquale 6pts, and Jayna MacKenzie 5pts.

The girls basketball team remains undefeated with a season record of 6 wins and no losses and have extended their winning streak to 29 straight league games. The girls’ next game is this Wednesday, home, against Thomas Edison MS of Meriden. Come out and support your school.. GO LADY MUSTANGS!!!

​Girls’ JV Game Results:
The girls’ JV team played against cross-town rival Dag Hammarskjold in a very close game winning by the score of 9-8. The team had a well balanced attack on offense. Lindsey Bunnell had a great 3-pointer in the game, followed by Emily Franzik, Isabella Perno, and Olivia Platt each with 2pts. There was a great team effort on defense as the team combined for 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Others that played well were Olivia Cassesse, and Natalie Swierczynski.

The girls’ JV record is now 5 wins with 1 loss.
