Girls Softball Results -May 17th

Well, like the game….the ride home from Lincoln in Meriden was anything but quiet. The girls were singing at the top of their lungs, and why not? They just finished an 18 hit attack against a very depleted Lincoln Team 17-0.

Don’t take anything away from the Lady Mustangs, these were not ordinary hits. Sammi Fers led the birage by hitting for the cycle going 4 for 4 with a single, double, triple and the home run. In addition, Fers also threw out a runner trying to steal 2nd with ease.

In addition, Mia Ferry and Ryen Wolchesky also homered. Jenna Cyr, Lauren Lindberg and Jess Davies all came off the bench to add to the seemingly endless hitting attack.

Alexandra Tenero pitched the complete game, throwing a one hitter and walking one. In addition, Tenero struck out 12 batters. 4 defensive errors led to other base runners. Lincolns only threats were in the first with a runner on third, Tenero threw a ground out to end the inning and in the 5th when Moran got out of the inning with a double play.

Moran is home, today, Wednesday vs Dodd of Cheshire at 3:30. Great Job Ladies.

Girls Softball Results

The Moran Lady Mustangs lost a tough one 12-11 at the hands of Strong Middle School of Durham yesterday. Moran opened up a 5-2 lead after the second inning, but Strong scored the next 10 runs with the help of 5 Mustang errors. To the home teams credit they didn’t quit and battled even into the 7th and final inning.

Trailing 12-5 starter Mia Ferry doubled, Alexandra Tenero doubled, Sammi Fers singled, Ryen Wolcheski reached on an error and stole second while Fers went all the way to third, Colleen Kelley tripled to deep right driving in 3, Summer van Dyke sacrificed and drove in Kelley and finally Aleiya Noone homered on a close play at the plate but scored.

Again Moran is hitting with 14 hits again. Coach Greenberg feels if we can tighten up the defense a bit, all of these games would be wins.

In a last minute decision, Coach Greenberg added 8th grader Te’a Martin as a Lady Mustang Captain. “Martin’s knowledge of the game and on field leadership as well as great nature makes this decision easy.” Greenberg said.
