The boys basketball team picked up their second win yesterday against Edison by a score of 60 to 36. The boys had 4 players score in double figures, led by Jelan Kollie’s 15 points, and a solid all-around defensive effort, led by Jaiden Kapoor’s 6 steals and Isaiah Hernandez’s 16 rebounds. The boys next game will be next Monday away against DePaolo.
Moran Girls’ Basketball Results:
Yesterday the Lady Mustangs Basketball team won their second game of the season beating Thomas Edison Lady Eagles by the score of 36-11. Leading the Lady Mustangs in scoring were co-captains Sydney Rossacci and Jayna MacKenzie each with 6pts followed by Madison DiPasquale with 5pts, Darla Jagrosse, Molly Smolenski, and Giada Izzo each with 4pts, Olivia Platt with 3pts, and Maya Wresien and Natalie Swierczynski each with 2pts. On the defensive side of the court, Sydney Rossacci had 7 steals and Madison DiPasquale, Maya Wresien, and Emily Franzik combined for 11 rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs extended their winning streak to 25 straight games and have a current season record of 2 wins and no losses. Come out and support your Lady Mustangs on Monday as they will have their first home game against DePaolo MS of Southington.

The girls JV team won their 2nd game of the season shutting out Thomas Edison MS by the score of 8 -0. Leading the Lady Mustangs in scoring was Ella Dorsey with 4pt followed by Giada Izzo and Camryn Jambor each with 2pts. Others that played well in the game were Natalie Swierczynski, Lyndsey Bunnell, and Olivia Platt.
Girls Varsity Game Results:
Yesterday, the Lady Mustangs Basketball Team opened their season on a positive note beating the Kennedy Lady Eagles by the score of 32 -18. On the offensive side of the court and leading all scorers were the two co-captains Jayna MacKenzie with 11pts and Sydney Rossacci with 9pts. Other scorers were Darla Jagrosse with 8pts, and Molly Smolenski and Madison DiPasquale each with 2pts.
On the Defensive end of the court, Madison DiPasquale and Darla Jagrosse combined for 18 rebounds while Sydney Rossacci had 5 steals in the game.
The Lady Mustangs continue their undefeated streak of 24 straight games and have not lost a regular season game since December 18th of 2015. The next game for the girls basketball team is Wednesday, away, against Thomas Edison MS of Meriden. Good Luck and GO LADY MUSTANGS!!!

The Lady Mustangs JV team won their first game by the score of 4 – 0. Scoring for the Lady Mustangs was Olivia Cassesse and Giada Izzo each with 2pts. On the Defensive end of the court, Emily Franzik and Giada Izzo combined for 6 rebounds and Lindsey Bunnell had 2 steals.
On Saturday the Moran Girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country teams competed in the 25th Annual Cross-Country State Championships. There were 120 schools and approximately 2800 runners that competed.
Girls’ Cross-Country Results – Girls Team finishes 22nd.
In the Girls Division, 120 schools were represented and there were 380 runners in the race. The Lady Mustangs team finished in 22nd place. The 7 individual runners that represented the Lady Mustangs were Co-Captain Arianna Amodio in 23rd place, Angelika Kotula 97th, Maya Wresien 200th, Avery Winters 207th, Katie Lombino 209th, Alison Kaiser 266th, and Emma Reilly 271st.
Boys Cross-Country Results – Boys Team finishes 3rd in the STATE!!!
In the Boys Division, 120 schools were represented and there were 440 runners in the race. The Moran Mustangs finished 3rd in the State and just missed being State Champions by 47 points. The team received a team trophy to bring back to the school. The 7 individual runners that represented the boys team were Co-Captain Eamon Burke finishing in 10th place, Zack Zubeckis in 25th, Co-Captain Evan Caines 31st, John Cotter-Swetz 64th, Aaron Kaiser 112th, Todd Grammatico 166th, and Stefan Pellerin 244th. What an amazing finish to an outstanding season!
Last Friday, the Girls’ and Boys’ Cross-Country teams competed against cross-town rival Dag Hammarskjold to determine who would win the town title!
Girls’ Cross-Country Results
The Lady Mustangs cross-country team stampeded over Dag Hammarskjold winning by the score of 19-36 to bring their final season record to 4 wins and 2 losses. Leading the pack of Lady Mustangs and taking first place overall was co-captain Arianna Amodio followed by a pair of 6th graders, Angelika Kotula in 2nd and Katie Lombino in 3rd. Co-captain Karly Martino was in 6th, Avery Winters 7th, Alison Kaiser 11th, and Maya Wresien 12th. Other Lady Mustangs that had outstanding runs during the race were Finnian Dubuc, Jayna MacKenzie, Hitika Patel, Marissa Capozzo Paige Duffey, Samantha Brown, and Aubrey Monroe.
Boys’ Cross-Country Results
The Moran Mustangs Cross-Country team finished their regular season undefeated as they trampled Dag winning by the score of 15-49 bringing their record to 6 wins and no losses. Leading the herd of Mustangs and taking first place overall was Eamon Burke followed closely by Zack Zubeckis in 2nd, Evan Caines 3rd, John Cotter-Swetz 4th, Aaron Kaiser 5th, Stefan Pellerin 6th, and Todd Grammatico 8th. Other Mustangs that had outstanding runs during the race were Ben Gyulay, Travis Karosi, Ryan Carmen, Tristan Bonilla, Adythia Naturaj, and Daniel Phoenix.
The boys’ cross-country team finished the season as UNDEFEATED LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!
